A 16-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly stabbing to death a taxi driver after they argued over taxi fare in barangay Basak-San Nicolas, Cebu City.
Ruben Lapeña Sacedon Jr., the 43-year-old driver of Tiger Taxi, died a few hours after he was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center.
The boy was arrested after the incident.
Police investigation showed that the boy flagged down the taxi in barangay Mambaling around 9 p.m. Wednesday and asked to be brought to barangay San Isidro in Talisay City.
When they arrived in San Isidro, the boy told the driver that he forgot to bring his wallet with him. The boy asked the driver to bring him to barangay Basak-San Nicolas so he could borrow money from his godfather.
SPO1 Ruth Violango said that according to the boy, Sacedon didn’t believe that he could get money in Basak-San Nicolas that resulted into an argument.
Police said the boy admitted stabbing the driver at the height of the argument.
Police recovered a knife in the taxi.
