Boy, 14, kissed girl, 13 – must register as sex offender

A 14-year-old boy who gave his classmate a love bite has been ordered by a court to submit a DNA sample to be stored on a biometric register of sex offenders. Germany’s highest court will now investigate the case.

The unnamed boy landed before a court in 2011, aged 14, when parents of a 13-year-old girl pressed charges of child abuse against him. Their daughter had come home one day with a hickey on her neck.

After a police investigation, the case went to court. The defendant was accused of having kissed the girl on her neck in such a way so that a “love bite of clearly visible dimensions” had appeared, and of “repeatedly touching her clothed genitals.”

The boy, for his part, claimed it had been entirely consensual.

The youth court issued the boy with a warning for “sexual abuse of children” and sentenced him to 60 hours of community service.

Judges then told the teenager he would have to give a DNA sample so that he could be put on Germany’s genetic database of sexual offenders as a likely re-offender.

But before he gave up the sample, judges from the Federal Constitutional Court intervened and said this would cause lasting damage to the boy’s reputation.

Germany’s highest court will now look into whether the boy’s biometric data belongs on the register.

11-year-old boy ran away in his foster parents’ minivan – still missing

An 11-year-old German boy disappeared on Tuesday after stealing his foster parents’ minivan and driving nearly 100 kilometres to Hamburg.

Hamburg police found the white Mercedes minivan parked blocking the entrance to a cemetery in the Bilstedt area of the city. The child, who has been identified only as Jeremie, was nowhere to be found.

Helicopters have been sent out to search nearby forest areas.

This was not the first time that Jeremie has run away from his foster parents, nor is it the first time that he has stolen a car. A prior incident ended in him crashing a vehicle, also en route to Hamburg.

Police said they believed Jeremie had planned his escape from his home town of Lübtheen in Mecklenburg Western-Pomerania, waiting until his guardians’ backs were turned to grab their minivan keys.

Police said the boy is 1.5 metres tall and strong, for an 11-year-old.

16-year-old boy smuggled 700 banned firecrackers

Police caught a 16-year-old Berlin boy trying to bypass Germany’s strict fireworks laws by smuggling 4.3 kilograms of illegal bangers over the Polish border.

Police confiscated the explosives during a routine check of passengers with luggage at Frankfurt (Oder) train station in Brandenburg on Saturday afternoon.

The schoolboy had stashed over 700 bangers in his bag, which he had bought in a supermarket in the adjoining Polish city of Slubice – just over the border where the German restrictions on buying fireworks do not apply.

German law states that members of the public can only buy fireworks for three days each year between 29th and 31st December.

The teen could face a fine, or even prison, police said on Monday.

Boy, 15, stabbed child molester, 55, to death

Young shirtless teenage boy killed man

A 15-year-old boy was arrested shortly after a 55-year-old man was found stabbed to death outside his flat in the Spandau district of Berlin on Thursday afternoon. Initial reports suggest he was stabbed at least three times.

Investigators say the two knew each other, and that their work was focussing on whether the teenager had been sexually abused by the man.

The boy has reportedly admitted killing the man, and is being held in youth detention.

The dead man had two convictions for sex offences against children over the past 10 years. One case resulted in a prison sentence of more than three years.

The 55-year-old had not made any secret of his liking of young boys, and had invited several local youths to his flat where they were allowed to play computer video games and watch pornography.

Boy, 14, sells mother’s jewels for brothel visit

Two 14-year-old German boys have been charged with stealing €3,000 worth of jewellery from one of their mothers, to pay for a visit to a brothel.

Caught in a “delirium of hormones,” as a police statement on Monday put it, the two boys got only a tenth of the value of the jewels when they sold them to a canny gold dealer.

“With their proceeds of €300, the pair didn’t just buy pizza, kebabs, and have a game on the fruit machines,” police spokesman Ralf Minet said. They also paid two visits to a brothel in the red light district of Karlsruhe.

“One could still see a delighted smile on the faces of the thieves during their interrogation,” Minet’s statement said.

The boys are to be charged for theft and will have to pay for the reversal of the transaction out of their pocket money.

15-year-old athlete penetrated 74-year-old judge with his spear

A sporting official in Germany has died after being struck in the throat by a javelin during a youth athletics event in Düsseldorf.

The 15-year-old athlete who threw the javelin was receiving psychological counselling.

The 74-year-old man was adjudicating at a youth athletics event in the western city of Düsseldorf when the incident happened late on Sunday, said police spokesman Andre Hartwig.

He was immediately taken to hospital but died of injuries, Hartwig said.

Boys made prank calls to police – cried “Tiger”

Four German boys who cried “Tiger” and sparked a huge police hunt for an escaped big cat have been told off by a judge. Three of the four will spend time in youth detention.

The teenagers from Augsburg called the police one after another, reporting an escaped tiger in the Siebentischwald forest area.

One even told officers he was calling while sitting in a tree while the tiger prowled around underneath.

The cops launched a massive hunt for the animal, sending teams of volunteers into the woods, and using a helicopter with heat-detecting camera to try to track the tiger. The cost of the hunt was estimated to be between €5,000 and €7,000.

Authorities took to the radio to warn people living nearby to stay indoors while the hunt continued.

The boys, aged between 16 and 19, appeared before an Augsburg youth court on Thursday and apologised, admitting they invented the story and made the calls.

“You do such things when you are young – and you have to then take the punishment on the chin,” said Roland Fink, spokesman for the court.

The 19-year-old was given two weeks in a youth detention centre, the 17-year-old will join him for a week, and the 16-year-old will spend a weekend there. A second 16-year-old was given a warning and instructed to spend 40 hours taking part in a media project to “improve his sense of responsibility and social competence.”
