11-year-old boy in custody after smoking pot in school, getting suspended and running away from home

An 11-year-old Albuquerque boy who vanished after he was suspended for smoking pot at school was found safe Wednesday morning more than 80 miles away from home.

Jeremiah Baca, 11, was reported missing to police by his family Monday night, the same day he and five other sixth-graders at the school were suspended for allegedly smoking pot on school grounds.

Baca was rumored to have been seen around campus since Monday. But Wednesday morning police confirmed he was found with his grandparents in Socorro.

Socorro police said the boy is safe but wouldn’t comment on how he got there.

The boy is now in custody of the state Children, Youth and Families Department, but the agency wouldn’t say why.

Tuesday, Kearney Police Department officer Derek Luke received information a student had allegedly been smoking marijuana across the street from the school.

The investigation revealed a 15-year-old Kearney boy had allegedly previously sold the drug to another 15-year-old Kearney boy, but delivered it to him during study hall on Tuesday.

Luke’s incident report said the teen had been smoking marijuana over his lunch break and that he had brought the drug back to KHS after lunch.

The teen’s parents were contacted, the report said.

Teenage boy dealt cocaine

A Dublin youth has been given another week to decide how he will plead to a cocaine dealing charge.

The 16-year-old boy has been accused of possessing cocaine for the purpose of sale or supply to another, at Sundrive Road, in Dublin, on July 18 last year.

Judge John O’Connor was told at the Dublin Children’s Court that the boy’s lawyer needed to discuss matters with the prosecuting garda.

Judge O’Connor ordered the boy, who was accompanied to his hearing by his mother, to appear again next Monday.

Shirtless boy in locker roomA 13-year-old boy in LaPorte is facing charges this morning after police found a half-pound of marijuana in his locker.

LaPorte County police said they found the marijuana in a backpack in an eighth-grader’s locker at Kesling Middle School after they were called to the school to investigate.

The boy was charged with a felony and was taken to the LaPorte County Juvenile Services Center.

Japanese teenager smoked pot in Bali – risks 12 years in detention

A 17-year-old Japanese boy has gone on trial in Indonesia after being accused of possessing marijuana on the resort island of Bali.

Prosecutor Wayan Widana told reporters the student from Nara, Japan, could face 12 years in detention if found guilty.

The boy has been held in a police cell since Aug. 8, when he allegedly bought a small amount of marijuana near popular Kuta beach.
