I’ve updated the donation page with a little FAQ.

The most interesting news is that you can now easily ugrade your donation. Just use the code of your current level when you check out, and the price of it will be deducted from the order total.

Here is the FAQ in full:

Q. Do donation posts differ from the rest of the content on BBN?

A little. It’s the same kind of boy news, but “racier” content that might upset the general public (despite being legal) is reserved for donation posts.

Q. How do the different donation levels differ?

The higher the level, the better the content – according to our editorial judgement. In addition, gold posts sometimes feature nudity from behind and platinum posts sometimes feature frontal nudity. All content is of course still legal.

Q. How many donation posts will there be per week?

Since the donation posts are not a membership feature (where you would want to know “what you get”), but rather a way to thank BBN’s devoted/contributing readers, there is no set number of posts. Check the donation post category to get an idea of how often they have been published so far. (As of today, there have been 6 donation posts per week.)

Q. I donated on a certain level but now I want to “upgrade” to a higher level – is it possible?

Yes, it’s very simple. The code of your donation level also works as a coupon for higher donation levels. Just enter it when you check out, and the cost of your first donation will be deducted from the higher donation level.

Example: You pay 10 euro for a Silver Donation. If you decide to upgrade to a Gold Donation you use the Silver code as a coupon and only pay 15 euro instead of 25 for the Gold Donation.

Q. How can I pay?

By credit card or bitcoin. If you pay by credit card your passwords will be available immediately. If you pay by bitcoin, there might be a delay. Drop us a line (info AT breakingboynews.com) if you want to pay in another way, like sending cash in the mail or doing a bank transfer (EU only).

Q. What about Paypal?

No.

Q. I don’t want to donate. Will I still find interesting posts on BBN?

Yes! The number of free posts hasn’t declined – we still publish one post a day of the most shocking, heartbreaking or just funny boy news.

Dear BBN readers,

thanks for voting on premium content a while back. Out of 654 (so far) voters, 43 percent said they would pay for premium content. I considered it and researched various member solutions, but eventually decided to settle for a simpler solution.

As you know, it’s possible to donate to Breaking Boy News since March 2013. Starting tomorrow, there will be occasional protected posts that are only viewable for donators.

It’s my way to say thank you to past and future contributors!

You can donate on four levels: bronze, silver, gold and platinum. Each level will have its own protected posts. If you donate on a higher level, it will contain the passwords to all the lower levels too.

It’s possible to donate with credit card (VISA or MasterCard) or with bitcoins.

The passwords become available immediately upon payment. (They are both shown on the page after your transaction has cleared and emailed to you.)

Dear fans of Breaking Boy News!

Here’s a word from your editor.

I started this blog in July 2012 as an offspring to the print newspaper. It was supposed to be a short project. I was curious about what reactions it would provoke, and if it would get any visitors despite not linking to any other blogs. I wanted to describe the purpose and the reactions (there have been some quite interesting) in a booklet after having completed the project.

As you know, the blog steadily became incredibly popular. We’ve now passed a total of two million page views, and we’re hitting record numbers almost every week and day; yesterday we passed 20,000 daily page views for the first time.

The success was a total surprise to me. So I decided to do it a bit longer.

However, the maintenance of this blog does take quite a lot of time and energy. I search out the most shocking, heartwarming, or just funny boy news. I seek out rare photos which can’t be found easily. Every day.

I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t enjoy it, but even though this “curating” of boy news is rewarding, I’ve come to the point where I will not be able to keep it up the way I have until now.

I’m considering two options: Either closing down the blog, or developing it further in a way that would give me some monetary compensation. Of course I would prefer the latter!

One idea is to have ads on the site. However, I think many regular companies don’t want to advertise on BBN because they consider the content controversial. Someone suggested porn ads, but I don’t see how that would be relevant on a G-rated news site like this.

Another idea is to offer the possibility of a premium membership. That would mean daily free posts, but some extra posts every week that are only visible to premium members.

What do you think? Would you consider paying a small sum in order to get some extra content, or in order to keep BBN alive? If you wouldn’t, what would be your biggest concerns? Would the price be important or the payment method?

It’s been a while since our last statistics post. As you can see, our extreme growth has flattened out; puberty is over. ^^

We’re quite stable now at 100,000 page views per week, with this week as a new record week that will break the 125,000 mark.
