Police caught a 16-year-old Berlin boy trying to bypass Germany’s strict fireworks laws by smuggling 4.3 kilograms of illegal bangers over the Polish border.
Police confiscated the explosives during a routine check of passengers with luggage at Frankfurt (Oder) train station in Brandenburg on Saturday afternoon.
The schoolboy had stashed over 700 bangers in his bag, which he had bought in a supermarket in the adjoining Polish city of Slubice – just over the border where the German restrictions on buying fireworks do not apply.
German law states that members of the public can only buy fireworks for three days each year between 29th and 31st December.
The teen could face a fine, or even prison, police said on Monday.

A 14 year boy was arrested for stealing Rs 66, 000 from a temple in Weligama.
The suspect had broken into the Nidangalarama Temple at Palalla on Saturday night to rob the money. Police found Rs 62,050 in his possession.
Matara Magistrate ordered the suspect to be kept under detention in the Kithulampitiya Children’s Home.
Weligama Police are investigating.

Pueblo Police say a teenager is suspended from middle school for allegedly trying to give marijuana brownies to his classmates and a teacher. It happened earlier this week at Heaton Middle School and authorities say at least one student got sick.
Officers say the 14-year-old boy tried sharing the brownies with his peers. “Yes he was sharing them with classmates, there’s a report that he even sold one of them for around $10 and even attempted to give one to a teacher,” said Sgt. Eric Gonzales, a spokesperson for the Pueblo Police Department.
It appears at least one student at the school ate a brownie and got a stomach ache.
The teen who brought the brownies was charged with possession of marijuana.
Although the school district wouldn’t share any details, officers say the boy was suspended.

A minor boy accused of raping a UKG student was apprehended on Wednesday and sent to an observation home after being produced before a juvenile justice court.
The class six student allegedly raped a student of the same school while returning home in Palla area.
The incident came to light on Tuesday when the mother of the victim reached a government hospital in Faridabad to get her daughter medically examined.
The issue was brought to the notice of senior police officers who ordered a medical examination of the girl.
The police had launched search for the boy after registering case of rape against him on Tuesday. Feeling the heat, the family members decided to produce him before the police.

A 16-year-old boy miraculously survived — suffering little more than a broken leg — a five-story fall from the roof of his grandmother’s Inwood apartment building last night.
The boy, identified by neighbors only as Nathaniel, landed like a cat after tumbling from the top of the six-story building at 541 W. 204th St. at 7:15 p.m.
He wound up on roof of a neighboring single-story building.
“It sounded like a bomb,” said Jiselle Nunez, 25, who was working inside the store at the time. “He [the boy] was screaming.”
In addition to a broken leg, the boy also suffered neck and back injuries and was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital in stable condition.
It was not clear why the boy was on the roof, or if he was with anyone else.
People in the building described him as always willing to help a person in need around the building.
“He’s a very sweet boy,” said Elizabeth Gomez, 32. “A good, loving kid.”

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder after the death of a girl of the same age near a remote Aboriginal community in Western Australia’s Goldfields region.
Police say around midday (WST) on Sunday, the girl was badly injured in an assault involving what’s believed to have been a metal bar.
Police found the girl dead in bushland near Cosmo Newberry a short time later.
The alleged offender is currently in Royal Perth Hospital after being injured in an assault that occurred after the girl’s death – an incident that police are also investigating.
The boy will appear in Perth Children’s Court later on Wednesday.

A 14-year-old Cape Elizabeth boy has been charged with gross sexual assault of a girl under the age of 12, according to Police Chief Neil Williams.
The girl is under the age of 12 and is in her family’s care, Williams said. The boy has been released into his father’s custody. He is expected to appear in court next month.
Police are providing no additional details about the alleged assault.

A nine-year-old boy in Ukraine has guaranteed that he won’t get any Christmas gifts this year after spending his family’s life savings on candy.
Apparently, the kid knew that the money—roughly $4,000 in mixed currencies—was stashed under the sofa. While home during a fall break, he would take portions of the money, then had it converted to Ukrainian hryvnas, which he used to purchase candy.
He had an accomplice—an adult diagnosed with a mental disorder. In exchange for the man’s help, the boy gave him a cut of the money. Though it may seem like the man was taking advantage of him, the kid was definitely the boss here.
The boy couldn’t eat all of that candy, so he demonstrated his unselfish nature by sharing with friends.
His father discovered that the money was missing after returning home from work one day, leading to a family argument that ended with the boy admitting to his heist.

A sixth-grader at Kings Fork Middle School in Suffolk was caught bringing a knife to school Monday.
According to City of Suffolk spokeswoman Diana Klink, a 12-year-old brought a 14-inch knife on the bus to school concealed in his book bag.
Klink said another student told the bus driver, who then advised the assistant principals.
The knife was retrieved by the principal and no students were injured or threatened.
Klink said the boy indicated he had been bullied by a schoolmate and he was bringing the knife for protection.
Suffolk Public Schools spokeswoman Bethanne Brandshaw says the student has been recommended for expulsion for violating the weapons policy.
