
A 17-year-old Japanese boy has gone on trial in Indonesia after being accused of possessing marijuana on the resort island of Bali.
Prosecutor Wayan Widana told reporters the student from Nara, Japan, could face 12 years in detention if found guilty.
The boy has been held in a police cell since Aug. 8, when he allegedly bought a small amount of marijuana near popular Kuta beach.
