Joyriding teen boy crashes car, injures four

Four people were injured in Depok after an unlicensed teenage boy, driving his parents’ car, crashed into a motorist and pedestrians. One of the victims suffered severe injuries.

“The 16-year-old was apparently angry with his parents, who planned to enroll him in an Islamic boarding school. He took off with a car from their house in Kemiri Muka,” Depok Police traffic accident chief Adj. Comr. Supriyono said.

The police officer said the teenager crashed into a group of pedestrians as he fled a previous collision with a motorcyclist.

The boy was beaten by local residents after the crash.
